(Lay) Netters South Side Oahu

Post by Daiwa_fan19 » Tue Jun 28, 2011 7:47 pm

If anyone cares, hah, seems like I the only one. A group of 3-5 people unloading and preparing their nets for who knows what. Had choke white color nets so im assuming they are lay nets. Just came back from the spot (7:15) and they were still unloading and preparing their nets. I was going to try record it on my gopro but ran out of batteries..... If anyone like bring some justice tonight I get 3 kayaks... DLNR was called twice and police one time, and only the police responded.

THey probably are setting the nets out right now as you read this!!! You can help save the baby omilu's, goats, oio's, pachi's etc... or not just like what seems going to happen with DLNR.

Aloha Daiwa,

Is that an MLCD? I checked the web-site and didn't see it on there. If not an MLCD, lay netters just have to have their nets registered and follow the "soaking time" limits.

Good job Daiwa on your investigative skills. In situations like this, good to grab license plate numbers, pass off to DLNR. Aila was on the news last week saying that he was going to try and have his officers work "after hours". If you get the info, at least can hand it off to them to follow-up. Police will respond but, they normally aren't as well versed in the fishing regulations and may not know how to handle the situation. Discreetly go to the bathroom and get their license plate numbers.

Daiwa_fan19, all of Kahala beach falls into the laynet prohibited zone just as you show in your previous post. If these guys really do laynet out there, then yes, it's a clearcut violation.
