papio hybrid

Post by 808kutb8 » Fri Jun 12, 2015 12:09 pm

I have caught a few papio that look like a mix of Bluefin trevally and giant trevally. Is this a hybrid or is it an omilu that has spent to much time in brackish water? The tail end looks like a white papio and front looks like an omilu. The coloration is of a white papio. The head is more pointed like an omilu. The eye is positioned like an omilu and is smaller like an omilu. The pectoral fin is yellow like an omilu. I have caught them all on the east side. There is a picture in clay yee's blog under Kirkstafarin.

It could be a hybrid...? Just be aware...there could be 13-15 different jack or more..in Hawaii...depending on who you talk too...

Aloha,
