Ulua Recipes

Post by eatfish » Wed Apr 10, 2013 2:10 pm

Time to get some recipes discussions going. I typically go for Ulua, but have been know to eat my bait or cook it for da family if no mo Uluas dat night.

One of my favorite ways to cook Ulua is what I call Fish Nuggets. WINNAH!!!!!

First, I cut the Ulua into about 1" cubes, preferably when semi frozen, then put on the side.

Than depending on how much Ulua you got, the mixture goes like this:
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
yellow food coloring about 2-3 drops
Salt to taste
add water slowly and mix well till it is a thick batter, kinda like pancake mix.

Than take the fish and coat it with the mix and deep fry em till they float or look like the picture.

I like to use a hot mustard sauce and dip em, but some like it just plain too.

That looks "good tasting"... If everyone like's it... Stay with it.

We always use to Sashimi some, poke some, fried the rest, flour, salt and pepper, keeping it simple!

Aloha, After coming getting hit with Cigutura... hard to eat now days..

I just caught a "no fit in pan size" Omilu and found this recipe for an alernative. Fileted and cubed. This was ONO! Meat was soft and batter was nice and crunchy. Thanks for sharing!!!
