Post by Kauaiboi808 » Tue Dec 25, 2012 9:33 pm

Aloha poundahz,
Every one says to thumb the line as you cast, but when i go for cast my 555gs the line sometimes catches my thumb and ocasionally slices into my thumb. Any advice so da line no catch onto my thumb when i casting?

Not sure what's exactly happening to make the line slice into your thumb but you can try wetting the line with fresh water from a squirt bottle before casting. You can also thumb the spool flange instead of the line and since the flange will be smoother and more of an even surface, your control will be more even.

Maybe his knot is catching his thumb.

sounds like the line is flaring up too much...usually due to the spool spinning faster than the lead can pull. practice your casting technique, aim high, learn to thumb the spool/line properly, use higher viscosity oil in your bearings, use thicker mono, use heavier lead. doing any of these may help your situation.
