SEA and Ocean..?

Post by kona-ulua-style » Fri Mar 01, 2013 6:58 am

We use the term Ocean and Sea interchangeable, but did you know there is a difference ..?
Ocean is a large open area of water, and sea is water that is partial surrounded by land. Note: Sea can be inclosed - like inland sea.

Every time we casts...we are casting into the ocean, the pacific ocean... that we all can "see"..

Sure there are hotels call Sea Side... by actually it is ocean side..lol

We all heard of the "Sailing the seven Seas".... How many ocean do we have..? There was four before 2000, today they added Arctic ocean, making it 5 oceans. How many Seas? 124 and Gulf's are actually a sea. Like the gulf of mexico, gulf of california, etc..

Aloha, We do "ocean casting" , yet we call it casting towards the sea... sometimes surfing casting... Something to think about...when casting..

No wonder people get nervous casting into the pacific ocean, that is a big place..lol

Hello Kona,

Could this perhaps have something to do with how the fishing store on Sand Island Road came up with its name.....5 Oceans 7 Seas? Hmmm...interesting. :?

The Seven seas refers to Phoanicians names of the 7 seas of the Meditierranean. These were the first worlds charted seas, known by the Sailors of that time.

The 7 seas names were recorded as early as 2300 BC. Today we have 124 known seas

Aloha, Thanks guys...
