Eveready Halogen bulbs  *Updated

Every Ulua fishermen who use headlamps know what type of light bulbs are the best.  Halogen!  Yea, Krypton is good, and the standard ones work but Halogen's rule!  I'll be reviewing the Eveready halogen light bulbs below. 

Features include:

• 5.2 volt.

• .85 amps of brightness!

Pro's:

• Brightest I have tested!

Con's

• Expensive!  Actually only twice the amount as a 6v Krypton bulb.  Ranging from $3.50 - $4.50.

• Cant find it anywhere now!  used to be carried at longs drugs but they don't order them anymore!

Below is a picture of a krypton 6v lamp.	Below is  a picture of a Eveready HPR-50 6v halogen lamp.

Verdict:  Eveready Halogen bulbs (HPR-50) are the best I have used so far.  I used some halogen bulbs from Japan, and other American manufacturers but haven't found the same amount of performance as these.  Radio shack has a halogen bulb with the same specifications (pn:  272-1189 radio shacks website) cost $3.99 but I haven't tested it yet.  Any questions email me!

2.26.02 I recently purchased 2 Xenon lamps from radio shack on Oahu.  It's rated at the same amperage (.85 amps) as the Halogen bulbs.  I put a set in my "Ultimate Headlamp" and noticed that the brightness rivals a Halogen (HPR50) light bulb.  I also noticed that the beam was more "tight" than the Halogen while using the Xenon bulb.  The Xenon bulb was $2 something at Radio Shack.  I suggest trying to purchase those instead of Halogen bulbs since they are almost half price!  I'll keep you posted on how long the bulb lasts as soon as Ulua season starts.

7.10.02 The first Xenon bulb has burnt out last weekend.  That's over 5 months of fishing on one lightbulb.  I guess the radio shack xenon bulbs last pretty long.

10.20.02 I have  been looking around at the RadioShack website and various stores on Oahu and cant find the Xenon lamps anymore...  They must have discontinued it.  Oh Well...  There is a new Headlamp in town and it seems to be awesome!  Here is the link to it (HL-7400 on the bottom of the webpage link)  http://www.optronicsinc.com/headlamps.htm
