Power Pro fishing line

Power Pro fishing line is a very strong, extremely thin, and very expensive alternative to monofilament line. Made from braided nylon, Power Pro has enormous strength with no stretch in the line which means you feel everything in real time on your pole.
Features include:
Extremely thin diameter, 50lb test is the diameter of 12lb test monofilament. 30lb test is the diameter of 8lb test monofilament.
No flex in the line. When the fish bites, you feel it right away!
Casting is easier and farther!
Pro's:
Same as above.
Con's
Cost. A spool of 300 yards of 50lb test runs around $25-$32.
Line isn't invisible in water. The color I have is dark moss green, so during the day, the line is visible under water.
Since some people like "soft" line, they might not like Power Pro since there is NO flex in the line. When you hook up Oahu (bankrupt), you will feel it on every tug!
You have to fill up your spool about half way with monofilament since an entire spool of Power pro might not fit on a Penn 750 or bigger. I usually fill up my spools just over half way with 30lb test Ande monofilament, then I splice Power Pro to it.
Tying knots and splicing line is harder. Ask your favorite fishing store ( I asked McCully bike) what knots are the best to use with this line.
Verdict: There are a lot of con's to Power Pro line but in my opinion, the Pro's heavily out weight the con's! I was skeptical about using braided line at first. Once I started to use Power Pro, I was hooked! I'll never use plain monofilament line in my spinning reels again. Trust me, try Power Pro line and I'm sure you will agree! McCully bike usually has a good supply of Power Pro.
Update (11/2001) Brians Fishing supply on O'ahu is selling Power Pro line for about $26.
good luck-->bigulua
